I love to see Learning

I am sitting in class at the moment watching as the 1st year students are in two groups and working on putting together a chart to summarize and explain a Bible passage that I’ve assigned them. It is great to see them wrestling with the issues of Biblical interpretation and to see how they are putting into practice, observation and interpretation of the text. Today is the fourth class day of ten and we are working hard.

The first day, there is a blank look on their faces as we tried to ascertain the meaning of a passage or as I asked them what was an observation of Acts 1:8. Today they handed in 45 observations on Acts 1:8 and then we began to look in detail at Acts 1:8 as a class and began to make observations and it quickly became apparent that 45 observations was simply scratching the surface. (We had to turn in 75 observations on Acts 1:8 for Hendricks at DTS!)

Today they are now dividing the passage into parts, observing the conjunctions, the structure in stride and drawing accurate interpretations that are yielding powerful applications! It is a joy to watch how these young leaders are blossoming right before my eyes. I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of this ministry.
